Song Meaning of You're Beautiful by James Blunt

In a June 2012 interview with Oprah, James Blunt gave the meaning of the song "You're Beautiful": "It's about seeing my ex-girlfriend on the London subway with her new man, who I didn't know existed." I didn't do anything about it, but for that instant, she and I had a lifetime together."

After meeting her, Blunt claims to have written the song's lyrics in just two minutes at home.

The song peaked at number one and number two in the UK and Australia, respectively. It peaked at number one on both charts when it was released in Canada and the US as the first single from Back to Bedlam.

At the 2007 Grammy Awards, the song was nominated for three awards: Best Male Pop Vocal Performance, Song of the Year, and Record of the Year.

You're Beautiful lyrics by James Blunt

My life is brilliant

My life is brilliant

My love is pure

I saw an angel

Of that I'm sure

She smiled at me on the subway

She was with another man

But I won't lose no sleep on that

'Cause I've got a plan

You're beautiful. You're beautiful

You're beautiful, it's true

I saw your face in a crowded place

And I don't know what to do

'Cause I'll never be with you

Yes, she caught my eye

As we walked on by

She could see from my face that I was

Fucking high

[Flying high - video/radio edited version]

And I don't think that I'll see her again

But we shared a moment that will last 'til the end

You're beautiful. You're beautiful

You're beautiful, it's true

I saw your face in a crowded place

And I don't know what to do

'Cause I'll never be with you

You're beautiful. You're beautiful

You're beautiful, it's true

There must be an angel with a smile on her face

When she thought up that I should be with you

But it's time to face the truth

I will never be with you
