Song meaning of Chasing Rainbows by Shed Seven
Shed Seven wrote "Chasing Rainbows" while touring Germany in support of their last album, A Maximum High. They developed the tune on a gloomy afternoon while waiting to conduct their soundcheck, according to Rick Witter in an interview with Songwriting Magazine.
He was sitting in the band's tour bus with bandmate Paul Banks when Banks started writing the song's primary riff on his guitar. Their constant travelling had made them homesick, so they immediately wrote the lyrics.
Lyrics of Chasing Rainbows by Shed Seven
These things that I regret
Like being called a nervous wreck
And working up another sweat for you
There's nothing that I can do
For counterparts and bleeding hearts
And all the things that fall apart for you
I don't keep my secrets there
I hide them everywhere
I could deny
But I'll never realise
I'm just chasing rainbows
All the time
And then I missed my cue
Everybody had a laugh
And then went for an early bath, did you
I don't keep my secrets there
No, no, no, I hide them everywhere
I could deny
But I'll never realise
I'm just chasing rainbows
All the time
(I could deny)
I could deny
But I'll never realise
I've been chasing rainbows
All my life
I could deny
But I'll never realise
I'm just chasing rainbows
All the time
(I could deny)
I could deny
But I'll never realise
I've been chasing rainbows
All my life
(I could deny)
