Song Meaning of Sugar by Maroon 5

In order to feature on his subsequent album, Pages, American singer-songwriter Mike Posner began writing songs. "Sugar," was one of the songs slated for the record, and he intially rejected Adam Levine's, Maroon 5's lead singer, request to have it appear on the upcoming band's new album.

Posner shifted labels in 2014, at which point she revealed that Pages would not be published and that a new body of music would be composed.

Lyrically, to the song is sang to the singer's love interest, "I just wanna be there where you are/And I gotta get one little taste". The song's lyrics use the word "sugar" to describe having sexual intimacy.
