Song meaning of Rolling In The Deep by Adele, and what to know about the song

Adele admitted in an interview that she had some initial misgivings about working with Paul Epworth because of their dissimilar musical tastes; yet, she later described their cooperation as "a match made in heaven." She added that Epworth was responsible for her improved vocal assurance, saying, "He drew a lot out of me. There are notes in that song that I struck that I didn't even know I could hit because he brought my voice out.

According to reports, the song was written by Epworth and Adele in a single afternoon after Adele's separation with her fiancé and was supposedly inspired by a Nashville US tour bus driver. It was her reaction to, 'being told that my life was going to be boring and lonely and rubbish, and that I was a weak person if I didn't stay in the relationship. I was very insulted, and wrote that as a sort of "fuck you".'

Adele referred to the soaring soul rumble that supported her on what would become her hallmark hit as "the beat of the song," saying that it "just built and built."

After going through a difficult breakup and having trouble finding her artistic voice for her second album, the singer met with producer Paul Epworth, who urged her to explore her most primal feelings.

Epworth added power to the groove with a marching band kick drum to achieve the desired booming impact.

But Adele alone, whose demo singing gave the finished track its strength. Regarding the "Rolling in the Deep" session, Epworth told Rolling Stone that "She was obviously quite fragile and very open about what had happened." However, she was burning internally.

According to reports, "Rolling in the Deep" became the largest crossover song in the United States in 2011 and received radio playing on a variety of radio stations.

Widespread appreciation was given to "Rolling in the Deep" by critics, who praised Adele's vocal delivery, the song's lyrics, and its production. Adele achieved a major commercial breakthrough thanks to it, catapulting her to prominence all over the world. The song peaked at number one in twelve nations and made it to the top ten in more than twenty. It was Adele's first American number-one single.

"Rolling in the Deep" earned the 2011 Year End Hot 100 No. 1 Single according to Billboard. It earned prizes for Record of the Year, Song of the Year, and Best Short Form Music Video at the 54th Annual Grammy Awards. On their year-end lists, numerous music journalists and newspapers named it the best song of the year.

Rolling In The Deep lyrics by Adele

There's a fire starting in my heart

Reaching a fever pitch, it's bringing me out the dark

Finally I can see you crystal clear

Go 'head and sell me out and I'll lay your ship bare

See how I leave with every piece of you

Don't underestimate the things that I will do

There's a fire starting in my heart

Reaching a fever pitch

And it's bringing me out the dark

The scars of your love remind me of us

They keep me thinking that we almost had it all

The scars of your love, they leave me breathless

I can't help feeling

We could have had it all

(You're gonna wish you never had met me)

Rolling in the deep

(Tears are gonna fall, rolling in the deep)

You had my heart inside of your hand

(You're gonna wish you never had met me)

And you played it, to the beat

(Tears are gonna fall, rolling in the deep)

Baby, I have no story to be told

But I've heard one on you

And I'm gonna make your head burn

Think of me in the depths of your despair

Make a home down there

As mine sure won't be shared

(You're gonna wish you never had met me)

The scars of your love remind me of us

(Tears are gonna fall, rolling in the deep)

They keep me thinking that we almost had it all

(You're gonna wish you never had met me)

The scars of your love, they leave me breathless

(Tears are gonna fall, rolling in the deep)

I can't help feeling

We could have had it all

(You're gonna wish you never had met me)

Rolling in the deep

(Tears are gonna fall, rolling in the deep)

You had my heart inside of your hand

(You're gonna wish you never had met me)

And you played it, to the beat

(Tears are gonna fall, rolling in the deep)

We could have had it all

Rolling in the deep

You had my heart inside of your hand

But you played it, with a beating

Throw your soul through every open door (woah)

Count your blessings to find what you look for (woah)

Turn my sorrow into treasured gold (woah)

You'll pay me back in kind and reap just what you sow (woah)

(You're gonna wish you never had met me)

We could have had it all

(Tears are gonna fall, rolling in the deep)

We could have had it all

(You're gonna wish you never had met me)

It all, it all, it all

(Tears are gonna fall, rolling in the deep)

We could have had it all

(You're gonna wish you never had met me)

Rolling in the deep

(Tears are gonna fall, rolling in the deep)

You had my heart inside of your hand

(You're gonna wish you never had met me)

And you played it to the beat

(Tears are gonna fall, rolling in the deep)

We could have had it all

(You're gonna wish you never had met me)

Rolling in the deep

(Tears are gonna fall, rolling in the deep)

You had my heart inside of your hand

(You're gonna wish you never had met me)

But you played it

You played it

You played it

You played it to the beat.
