Song Meaning of Physical by Olivia Newton-John
Steve Kipner and Terry Shaddick, who originally wanted to offer it to Rod Stewart, wrote the song, which John Farrar produced.
Roger Davies, Tina Turner's manager, had also offered the song to her, but when Turner declined, Davies gave it to another of his clients, Olivia Newton-John.
Newton-John's long-standing clean-cut image was replaced with a sensual, aggressive character thanks to the song's suggestive lyrics, which even led to its suspension in some regions.
"Physical" became a smash hit right away, selling two million copies in the United States and earning Platinum certification. It also tied the record for the most weeks at the top of the Billboard Hot 100 chart by spending 10 straight weeks at number one. In the end, "Physical" became Newton-John's biggest success and solidified her reputation as a pop icon.
Physical lyrics by Olivia Newton-John
I'm saying all the things that I know you'll like
Making good conversation
I gotta handle you just right
You know what I mean
I took you to an intimate restaurant
Then to a suggestive movie
There's nothing left to talk about
Unless it's horizontally
Let's get physical, physical
I wanna get physical
Let's get into physical
Let me hear your body talk, your body talk
Let me hear your body talk
Let's get physical, physical
I wanna get physical
Let's get into physical
Let me hear your body talk, your body talk
Let me hear your body talk
I've been patient, I've been good
Tried to keep my hands on the table
It's gettin' hard, this holdin' back
You know what I mean
I'm sure you'll understand my point of view
We know each other mentally
You gotta know that you're bringin' out
The animal in me
Let's get physical, physical
I wanna get physical
Let's get into physical
Let me hear your body talk, your body talk
Let me hear your body talk
Let's get physical, physical
I wanna get physical
Let's get into physical
Let me hear your body talk, your body talk
Let me hear your body talk, ah
Oh, let's get physical, physical
I wanna get physical
Let's get into physical
Let me hear your body talk, your body talk
Let me hear your body talk
Let's get animal, animal
I wanna get animal
Let's get into animal
Let me hear your body talk, your body talk
Let me hear your body talk, ah-ah
Let me hear your body talk (Your body talk)
Let me hear your body talk
