Song Meaning of Let It Be by The Beatles, and what it is about
An apprehensive Paul McCartney began writing "Let It Be" in 1968 and revealed a skeletal version to the other Beatles during the disastrous Let It Be rehearsals in January 1969.
He was inspired by the church-born soul of Aretha Franklin. McCartney's secular humanism was ruthlessly dismissed by John Lennon, who mistook it for pious self-righteousness.
However, the Beatles put extra effort into the song, obtaining the perfect take on January 31 — the day following their final live performance, which took place on the top of their London Apple headquarters. When "Let It Be" was released four months later, it basically served as an elegy for the band that had come to represent the 1960s.
It was the Beatles' final single before McCartney announced his departure from the band.
In a later interview McCartney said about a dream that his mother had told him, "It will be all right, just let it be."
Song Lyrics of Let It Be by The Beatles
When I find myself in times of trouble
Mother Mary comes to me
Speaking words of wisdom
Let it be
And in my hour of darkness
She is standing right in front of me
Speaking words of wisdom
Let it be
Let it be, let it be, let it be, let it be
Whisper words of wisdom
Let it be
And when the broken-hearted people
Living in the world agree
There will be an answer
Let it be
For though they may be parted there is
Still a chance that they will see
There will be an answer
Let it be
Let it be, let it be, let it be, let it be
Yeah, there will be an answer
Let it be
Let it be, let it be, let it be, let it be
Whisper words of wisdom
Let it be
Let it be, let it be, let it be, let it be
Whisper words of wisdom
Let it be
And when the night is cloudy
There is still a light that shines on me
Shine until tomorrow
Let it be
I wake up to the sound of music
Mother Mary comes to me
Speaking words of wisdom
Let it be
Let it be, let it be, let it be, yeah, let it be
There will be an answer
Let it be
Let it be, let it be, let it be, yeah, let it be
There will be an answer
Let it be
Let it be, let it be, let it be, yeah, let it be
Whisper words of wisdom
Let it be
