Song Meaning of Jingle Bell Rock by Bobby Helms
Although Helms and Hank Garland, the song's session guitarist, both denied it, "Jingle Bell Rock" was written by Joseph Carleton Beal and James Ross Boothe.
Both Helms and Hank Garland, who served as the song's session guitarist, insisted, up until their passing, that they composed the song rather than Beal and Boothe. They stated that Helms was handed the song to record by a Decca official, and it was named Jingle Bell Hop in the original Beal and Boothe composition.
Helms and Garland claimed that there was little to no similarity between this song and the present one. Helms took offence at it, so the two of them worked on it together, adding a bridge that had been absent and altering the song's speed, lyrics, and music. They insisted that this new song was the one that was popularised today. Nevertheless, neither of them was given credit for their writing or went on to get royalties.
Song Lyrics of Jingle Bell Rock by Bobby Helms
Jingle bell, jingle bell, jingle bell rock
Jingle bells swing and jingle bells ring
Snowin' and blowin' up bushels of fun
Now the jingle hop has begun
Jingle bell, jingle bell, jingle bell rock
Jingle bells chime in jingle bell time
Dancin' and prancin' in Jingle Bell Square
In the frosty air
What a bright time, it's the right time
To rock the night away
Jingle bell time is a swell time
To go glidin' in a one-horse sleigh
Giddy-up jingle horse, pick up your feet
Jingle around the clock
Mix and a-mingle in the jinglin' feet
That's the jingle bell rock
Jingle bell, jingle bell, jingle bell rock
Jingle bell chime in jingle bell time
Dancin' and prancin' in Jingle Bell Square
In the frosty air
What a bright time, it's the right time
To rock the night away
Jingle bell time is a swell time
To go glidin' in a one-horse sleigh
Giddy-up jingle horse, pick up your feet
Jingle around the clock
Mix and a-mingle in the jinglin' feet
That's the jingle bell
That's the jingle bell
That's the jingle bell rock
