Song Meaning of Invisible Touch by Genesis, and what it is about
Collins made up the line "She seems to have an invisible touch" while Rutherford played a guitar riff during a jam session that led to the creation of "Invisible Touch."
Collins has claimed that he could hear Sheila E. and Prince's influence in the drum machine, and that some of the people he had known who had offended him served as inspiration for his lyrics.
He has stated that he wasn't sure the song would be a hit, despite the fact that he personally likes the tune and the band's prior success. Collins claimed that Andrea Bertorelli, to whom he was married from 1975 until 1980, is the subject of "large chunks" of the song's lyrics.
Phil Collins said it his "favourite Genesis song" and guitarist Mike Rutherford has called it "a wonderful song: upbeat, fun to play, always a strong moment in any gig."
The lead single and album's title tune, "Invisible Touch," was released in 1986 by the English rock group Genesis. Phil Collins, a drummer and singer, wrote the song's lyrics, which were part of a group composition.
It was their first and only U.S. No. 1 single, and it spent three weeks straight at the top of the Billboard Hot 100 Airplay chart in the summer of 1986.
Song lyrics of Invisible Touch by Genesis
Well I've been waiting, waiting here so long
But thinking nothing, nothing could go wrong, ooh now I know
She has a built-in ability
To take everything she sees
And now it seems I'm falling, falling for her
She seems to have an invisible touch, yeah
She reaches in and grabs right hold of your heart
She seems to have an invisible touch, yeah
It takes control and slowly tears you apart
Well I don't really know her, I only know her name
But when she crawls under your skin
You're never quite the same, and now I know
She's got something you just can't trust
It's something mysterious
And now it seems I'm falling, falling for her
She seems to have an invisible touch, yeah
She reaches in and grabs right hold of your heart
She seems to have an invisible touch, yeah
It takes control and slowly tears you apart
She seems to have an invisible touch, yeah
She reaches in and grabs right hold of your heart
She seems to have an invisible touch, yeah
It takes control and slowly tears you apart
Well, she don't like losing, to her, it's still a game
And though she will mess up your life
You'll want her just the same, and now I know
She has a built-in ability
To take everything she sees
And now it seems I've fallen, fallen for her
She seems to have an invisible touch, yeah
She reaches in and grabs right hold of your heart
She seems to have an invisible touch, yeah
It takes control and slowly tears you apart
She seems to have an invisible touch, yeah
She seems to have an invisible touch, oh
She seems to have an invisible touch, yeah
She seems to have an invisible touch, oh
She seems to have an invisible touch, yeah
She seems to have an invisible touch, oh
She seems to have an invisible touch, yeah
She seems to have an invisible touch, oh
