Eye In The Sky

The Alan Parsons Project
Album:
Eye In The Sky

Lyrics meaning of Eye In The Sky by Alan Parsons Project, and what it is about

The song's concept dealt with belief systems, including political, religious, and luck-based views, with the belief connected to the notion that someone is always watching over us.

The content of the song has given rise to a number of ideas, one of which links it to George Orwell's 1949 novel 1984, which describes a dystopian future in which citizens are under constant surveillance by a higher authority in government.

Although there are no references to a "eye in the sky" or other ubiquitous observation platforms in George Orwell's classic novel, Parsons did connect the album's overall theme to "Big Brother" in 1984.

"Eye in the Sky," the lead single from Alan Parsons Project's sixth album, became the group's biggest hit in the United States when it was released in 1982 and peaked at No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Eye In The Sky lyrics by Alan Parsons Project

Don't think sorry's easily said

Don't try turning tables instead

You've taken lots of chances before

But I ain't gonna give anymore

Don't ask me

That's how it goes

'Cause part of me knows what you're thinking

Don't say words you're gonna regret

Don't let the fire rush to your head

I've heard the accusation before

And I ain't gonna take any more

Believe me

The sun in your eyes

Made some of the lies worth believing

I am the eye in the sky

Looking at you

I can read your mind

I am the maker of rules

Dealing with fools

I can cheat you blind

And I don't need to see any more to know that

I can read your mind (looking at you)

I can read your mind (looking at you)

I can read your mind (looking at you)

I can read your mind

Don't leave false illusions behind

Don't cry cause I ain't changing my mind

So find another fool like before

Cause I ain't gonna live anymore believing

Some of the lies while all of the signs are deceiving

I am the eye in the sky

Looking at you

I can read your mind

I am the maker of rules

Dealing with fools

I can cheat you blind

And I don't need to see any more to know that

I can read your mind (looking at you)

I can read your mind (looking at you)

I can read your mind (looking at you)

I can read your mind

I am the eye in the sky

Looking at you

I can read your mind

I am the maker of rules

Dealing with fools

I can cheat you blind

And I don't need to see any more to know that

I can read your mind (looking at you)

I can read your mind (looking at you)

I can read your mind (looking at you)

I can read your mind
