Song Meaning of Creep by Radiohead, and what it is about
I thought the lyrics were fairly bad, and I wasn't particularly satisfied with them," Thom Yorke told Rolling Stone. The song was written by him in college, before Radiohead even formed.
However, "Creep" struck the ideal note of post-Nirvana melancholia and propelled the group into the U.S. charts. Jonny Greenwood, the band's guitarist, subsequently said that he felt the success that followed "Creep" to be "stultifying," yet Radiohead's experience with cookie-cutter stardom inspired the group to make difficult records like OK Computer and Kid A.
The debut single from English band Radiohead's first studio album, Pablo Honey, was "Creep" when it was released as a debut single in 1992. It borrows some ideas from The Air I Breathe by The Hollies.
It reached the third spot in Norway, the sixth spot in Australia, the seventh spot in the United Kingdom, the eighth spot in Belgium, the thirteenth spot in the Netherlands and Ireland, the fifteenth spot in Austria, the seventeenth spot in France, the eighteenth spot in Denmark, the nineteenth spot in New Zealand, the thirty-first spot in Canada, and the thirty-fourth spot in the United States.
Creep lyrics by Radiohead
When you were here before
Couldn't look you in the eye
You're just like an angel
Your skin makes me cry
You float like a feather
In a beautiful world
I wish I was special
You're so fucking special
But I'm a creep
I'm a weirdo
What the hell am I doing here?
I don't belong here
I don't care if it hurts
I want to have control
I want a perfect body
I want a perfect soul
I want you to notice
When I'm not around
You're so fucking special
I wish I was special
But I'm a creep
I'm a weirdo
What the hell am I doing here?
I don't belong here
Oh, oh
She's running out again
She's running out
She run, run, run, run
Run
Whatever makes you happy
Whatever you want
You're so fucking special
I wish I was special
But I'm a creep
I'm a weirdo
What the hell am I doing here?
I don't belong here
I don't belong here
