Song Meaning of Radioactive by Imagine Dragons

Lead Singer, Dan Reynolds disclosed that he had come to the realisation that the lyrics truly spoke about his refusal to give up hope following his loss of trust in Mormonism.

Reynolds also stated, "Radioactive, to me, it's very masculine, powerful-sounding song, and the lyrics behind it, there's a lot of personal story behind it, but generally speaking, it's a song about having an awakening; kind of waking up one day and deciding to do something new, and see life in a fresh way,"

The song became a sleeper hit, debuting at number three on the US Billboard Hot 100 list, becoming the third best-selling song in that country in 2013 and the band's first top 10 single.

Radioactive lyrics by Imagine Dragons

Whoa, oh, oh

Whoa, oh, oh

Whoa, oh, oh

Whoa

I'm waking up to ash and dust

I wipe my brow and I sweat my rust

I'm breathing in the chemicals

[Inhale, exhale]

I'm breaking in, shaping up, then checking out on the prison bus

This is it, the apocalypse

Whoa oh

I'm waking up, I feel it in my bones

Enough to make my system blow

Welcome to the new age, to the new age

Welcome to the new age, to the new age

Whoa, oh, oh, oh, oh, whoa, oh, oh, oh, I'm radioactive, radioactive

Whoa, oh, oh, oh, oh, whoa, oh, oh, oh, I'm radioactive, radioactive

I raise my flag and dye my clothes

It's a revolution, I suppose

We're painted red to fit right in

Whoa oh

I'm breaking in, shaping up, then checking out on the prison bus

This is it, the apocalypse

Whoa oh

I'm waking up, I feel it in my bones

Enough to make my system blow

Welcome to the new age, to the new age

Welcome to the new age, to the new age

Whoa, oh, oh, oh, oh, whoa, oh, oh, oh, I'm radioactive, radioactive

Whoa, oh, oh, oh, oh, whoa, oh, oh, oh, I'm radioactive, radioactive

All systems go, the sun hasn't died

Deep in my bones, straight from inside

I'm waking up, I feel it in my bones

Enough to make my system blow

Welcome to the new age, to the new age

Welcome to the new age, to the new age

Whoa, oh, oh, oh, oh, whoa, oh, oh, oh, I'm radioactive, radioactive

Whoa, oh, oh, oh, oh, whoa, oh, oh, oh, I'm radioactive, radioactive
