Song meaning of Unholy by Sam Smith ft Kim Petras

The song's lyrics tell the story of an adulterous heterosexual family man who sneaks into a strip club to have sex without telling his wife. "Liberating oneself from the clutches of others' secrets" is how Smith put it.

A rough draft of "Unholy" was given to Kim Petras, who agreed to collaborate with Smith on the song. A week later, the two met at Capitol Studios in Los Angeles.

Kim Petras became the first openly transgender musician to win a major-category Grammy Award when she won Best Pop Duo/Group Performance at the 65th Annual Grammy Awards. It also topped the Billboard Global 200 chart and the charts in eighteen additional nations.
