Song Meaning and Background of My Heart Will Go On by Celine Dion

The song My Heart Will Go On is the famous theme of the movie Titanic. It has been one of the most iconic songs in music history and continues to inspire people. It is a beautiful song about love that never dies. It is a very popular song that is played at weddings, funerals and many other celebrations.

My Heart Will Go On was written and composed by James Horner. It was released on the soundtrack of the 1997 film Titanic starring Hollywood actors Kate Winslet and Leonardo DiCaprio. It is about a romance between two people who were on the same boat, Rose and Jack. They were from different backgrounds, Rose was a rich girl and Jack was a working class boy. They fell in love and ended up getting married. But when the ship sank, they were separated.

After the film Titanic was released, it became an international hit. It was a very emotional and moving song that was loved by people all over the world. It made Celine Dion one of the most popular and famous singers in the world. She was also a very talented actress and had many hits before singing this particular song.

Despite the fact that the song My Heart Will Go On was very popular, it did not make it into the Billboard charts. But despite this, it still has a very powerful message and continues to inspire people all over the world.

Studio officials were concerned that the movie Titanic would be a commercial flop prior to its premiere. Sony hoped to incorporate a theme tune in the soundtrack album after paying $800,000 for the rights to it. James Cameron, the director, felt it would be wrong to close Titanic with a popular song.

The song "My Heart Will Go On" was initially written by James Horner as an instrumental motif for the movie soundtrack. He hired lyricist Will Jennings to write the words "from the point of view of a person of a great age looking back so many years" in order to create a vocal version that would be used throughout the end credits.

When Horner and Simon Franglen were collaborating on the electronic textures and synthesisers for the movie music, Franglen was shown the song. Céline Dion was suggested by Franglen, with whom he had collaborated on several of her big songs. Since she had already recorded the songs for the films "Beauty and the Beast" and "Because You Loved Me," Dion first decided not to record it. René Angélil, her husband and producer, persuaded her to record a demo.

Before giving Cameron the demo, Horner waited until he was in the right frame of mind. Cameron gave it his blessing after giving it many listens, but he was concerned about criticism for "going commercial at the end of the movie". Cameron "saw that a hit song from his movie could only be a positive factor in guaranteeing its completion" in order to calm the worried studio executives.

More than 25 different countries ranked it at the top of the charts. It is one of the best-selling singles of all time and the second-best-selling single by a woman in music history, with estimated global sales of over 18 million copies. Additionally, it was 1998's top-selling single globally.

Lyrics of My Heart Will Go On by Celine Dion

Every night in my dreams

I see you, I feel you

That is how I know you go on

Far across the distance

And spaces between us

You have come to show you go on

Near, far, wherever you are

I believe that the heart does go on

Once more you open the door

And you're here in my heart

And my heart will go on and on

Love can touch us one time

And last for a lifetime

And never let go 'til we're gone

Love was when I loved you

One true time I hold to

In my life we'll always go on

Near, far, wherever you are

I believe that the heart does go on

Once more you open the door

And you're here in my heart

And my heart will go on and on

You're here, there's nothing I fear

And I know that my heart will go on

We'll stay forever this way

You are safe in my heart

And my heart will go on and on
