Since the 1970s, the Scottish pop group Middle of the Road has been successful in Europe and Latin America. With their unusual harmonies and lead vocals by Sally Carr, Middle of the Road were the sound of early europop before ABBA became well-known in the middle of the 1970s. "Chirpy Chirpy Cheep Cheep" is one of four of their singles that have sold over a million copies and was awarded a gold disc. "Tweedle Dee, Tweedle Dum," "Soley Soley," and "Sacramento." The group had sold more than five million records by early 1972.
