Daddy Yankee is a retired Puerto Rican rapper, singer, composer, and actor under the name of Ramón Luis Ayala Rodrguez. Both music reviewers and followers of the genre refer to him as the "King of Reggaeton". He is frequently credited by other Hispanic urban performers as an influence.

With the release of his international smash single "Gasolina" in 2004, Daddy Yankee is credited with popularising reggaeton and making it a worldwide phenomenon. Since then, he has sold about 30 million records, ranking him among the top Latin music performers in terms of sales.
